An Event to Support Sexual Orientation Discrimination Bill
¡§We are closer than ever before to a possible anti-discrimination bill in
Hong Kong¡¨ ¡V proclaimed Roddy Shaw, chairperson of Civil Rights for
Sexual Diversities. This speculation is most evident with the backlash
launched by the religious right ¡V 4-page newspaper ads, debates on radio
programs, TV shows and mass media. 30,000 signatures and letters were
claimed to have been collected opposing the legislation.
What exactly is the legislation about? Is it about equality or will it
curb freedom of expression? Why would the average Joe and Jane in our
community care? Do I need protection if I am leading a ¡¥don¡¦t ask,
don¡¦t tell¡¦ life? Why should I support a Sexual Orientation
Discrimination Bill? Do we respond to the religious right at all and how?
Come to the ¡§Love Embraces All¡¨ Party co-presented by Propaganda and
Civil Rights for Sexual Diversities, one of the leading organizations in
fighting for equal rights for the LGBT community in Hong Kong. It¡¦s a
